Larry Rodriguez is a seasoned Lighting Designer, Educator, and Live Entertainment Production Leader whose career bridges the worlds of theatre, live entertainment, and themed experiences across the United States and Asia.
The recipient of numerous scholarships, workshops, and training grants in technical theater, Larry has learned from, collaborated with, and developed partnerships alongside some of the industry’s finest. Early in his career, he was selected to apprentice under Ms. Naomi Matsumoto and the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), where he remains a senior member artist and teacher.
Internationally, Larry’s work in theatre and photography has been featured in more than one hundred professional stage productions, television programs, and music videos. In the United States, he has held leadership roles as a Technical Director, Lighting Designer, and Production Manager, proudly representing both the U.S. and the Philippines in international competitions and theatre festivals.
Over the years, Larry has collaborated with renowned organizations including Seattle Musical Theatre, Bainbridge Performing Arts, Next Stage, Holy Names Academy Theater and Film Department, Mad Cow Theatre, Orlando Shakes, Orlando Rep, Perseverance Theatre, and most notably, as Lighting Designer and Technical Production Manager at Seattle’s Book-It Repertory Theater.
Currently based in Orlando, Florida, Larry has enjoyed a thriving career with both Universal Orlando Resort and The Walt Disney Company. His Disney journey includes serving on the Lighting Design bench for Disney Parks Live Entertainment, being promoted to Park Lighting Crew Chief at EPCOT, and later as Lighting Production Planner at Disney Springs. Today, he proudly serves as a Lighting Designer for Disney Signature Experiences with Disney Live Entertainment and Disney Cruise Line - designing and delivering unforgettable moments for live productions, concerts, corporate, and private events across the fleet.
As a freelance Lighting Designer, Larry continues to bring his artistry to regional theatres at home and abroad whenever possible.
In August 2025, Larry was honored with The Walt Disney Legacy Award - the highest recognition given to less than 1% of Disney Cast Members worldwide. Nominated by his peers, this award celebrates those who embody Walt Disney’s legacy of dreaming, creating, and inspiring. For Larry, the Legacy Award is both a milestone and a reminder of his commitment to creating meaningful, memorable experiences through light, story, and collaboration.
